2025 Leadership Roles:
Uptown Rotary is excited to announce its leadership team for the upcoming year, featuring a mix of dedicated members stepping into new or updated roles. This dynamic group is poised to drive the club's mission forward with renewed energy, focusing on impactful community service, engaging programs, and robust fundraising efforts.
President Charmaine Dwyer
Charmaine Dwyer, founder of the Tamarack Group in Minneapolis, is at the helm as President. Charmaine is already making significant strides in her new role, bringing strong organizational and leadership skills to the club. She's also continuing her vital work as JUFS Coordinator. Her commitment to a smooth transition into leadership is evident, and the club is buzzing with anticipation for the year ahead under her guidance. Outside of Rotary, Charmaine enjoys cooking, traveling, and capturing nature through photography.
President-Elect (2026/2027) / Public Image Chair: Adam Kooyer
One of Uptown Rotary’s newest members, Adam Kooyer, is making a significant impact as President-Elect for 2026/2027 and Public Image Chair. He's revamping Uptown Rotary's web presence and improving communications to better reflect their mission. Outside his cloud engineering day job at an Identity Services company, Adam enjoys restoring vintage arcade and pinball machines.
Community Service: Kwame Owusu-Acheampong
Kwame Owusu-Acheampong recently joined our Sub Club and is leading the charge in Community Service. He'll focus on projects benefiting both local and global communities, especially through the club's close relationship with Ella Baker School. Kwame's leadership is crucial for annual events like author visits, field trips, and in-room libraries, as well as building partnerships to maximize the club’s service impact.
Fundraising Chair: Steph Swanson
Steph Swanson is a State Farm agent by day and a Rotary rock-star the rest of the time. For the 2025/2046 Rotary year, she has accepted the role of Fundraising Chair! Steph will coordinate all fundraising events for the club and is currently working on this year's event, plus a fabulous bash planned for 2026. Her sharp wit, joyful personality, and bear hugs make her a key player in our club!
Meeting Greeter: Thomas H. Sopoci
Formerly our Ella Baker liaison, Thomas H. Sopoci remains an integral part of our club as our Meeting Greeter. A veteran member, Tom ensures a warm welcome for everyone attending our gatherings.
Meeting Venue Coordinator: Laurie Kottke
Laurie Kottke, co-founder of our SubClub is the owner of Kottke Fine Jewelers, brings her sparkling personality to the role of Meeting Venue Coordinator. A fun and thoughtful member of many years, Laurie will manage all meeting logistics, including space acquisition, and food and beverage coordination.
Membership Co-Chair: Glenna Case
Glenna Case is a new Membership Co-Chair but a veteran member (and past president!) who has helped keep the wheels on the club for many years. Glenna is known for her insightful questions and strong convictions. She's passionate about women's rights and deeply engaged with the American Association of University Women and the ERA. Having greatly contributed to the club for many years by coordinating efforts to encourage participation, Glenna will now focus on ushering in new members and assigning mentors, ensuring everyone feels welcome and engaged.
Programs Co-Chair: Tess Tierney
Tess, our veteran Programs Chair, is taking on this role once again. A world traveler and organizational pro, Tess effortlessly manages the crucial task of securing engaging guest speakers for our club meetings. She will transition out of this role this year and look to contribute to the club in other ways.
Programs Co-Chair: Dale Snyder
Dale is a past president known for his sharp wit and knack for adding fun to every meeting! He will serve as Programs Co-Chair alongside Tess. While scaling back his participation in Haiti Outreach, Dale's team-player attitude makes him a reliable and enjoyable presence, helping ensure our programs are well-coordinated and enriching for members, and guest experiences are smooth.
Ready Set Smile Liaison / Membership Co-Chair: Bill Sweatt
Bill Sweatt, one of the club's friendliest members, is the Ready Set Smile Liaison. Bill's genuine conversations and deep love for his community are contagious. He hosts events like his annual block party and solstice celebrations, fostering strong relationships that boost membership and keep the club vibrant and active.
Rotary Foundation: Magdeline Aagard
A veteran Uptown Rotarian and past president, Magdeline Aagard continues her vital role as our Foundation Chair. She manages fundraising and resources to support humanitarian programs and has been instrumental in fostering a deeper connection with the Bakken Museum and its community impact.
Secretary: Position Open
The Secretary position is currently open. This role is crucial for managing club records and communications, and the club is actively seeking a detail-oriented and organized member to fill it.
Sub-Club Director: Richard Haglund
Richard Haglund, founder of the Sub-Club, is all about action in the community as Sub-Club Director. From creating emergency bags to offering local business discounts, he’s always engaged in initiatives that make a tangible impact. Known for his positivity and "just being happy" attitude, Richard also made waves conducting an orchestra during a recent trip to Italy!
Treasurer: Seth Tenpenny
Seth Tenpenny keeps the club’s finances on track with meticulous attention to detail as Treasurer. He manages funds responsibly, ensuring resources are allocated effectively for operational expenses and charitable projects. Known for his calm demeanor and solid financial expertise, Seth plays a key role in ensuring the club’s continued success and financial health.
