The Minneapolis Uptown Rotary Club, chartered in 1987, is known for our friendly atmosphere, our great speaker programs, and our lovely setting at the Minikahda Club overlooking Lake Bde Maka Ska. We're a small size club where everybody not only knows your name, but also how you and your family are doing. Minneapolis Uptown Rotarians are as committed to this atmosphere of friendship as we are to service in our community and the world.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Minneapolis Uptown Rotary has been a charitable force in our community for decades - it's a role we take seriously. Over the years, we have committed to community service in our Minneapolis community. Through hands-on volunteer service we staff the Joyce Uptown Foodshelf one evening each week. Our fundraising activities also support the purchase of food and supplies for the food shelf.

Another focus of our work in the community is Jefferson Community School in the Uptown area. During the school year we help distribute food to students on Friday afternoons as part of Every Meal's weekend food program. We also partner with Magers & Quinn to provide dictionaries to third graders at Jefferson, and have volunteered for activities at the school including their annual Carnival fundraising event, as well as providing financial support for other programs as needed.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
Minneapolis Uptown Rotary not only supports our local community, but also communities around the world. Through fundraising efforts in the recent past, we have supported various international projects via our Minneapolis Uptown Rotary Foundation. Our primary areas of focus include Clean Water, Education, and Hunger. We have provided longstanding support to Haiti Outreach, which digs wells and builds schools in the impoverished country of Haiti.
We also have worked with Books for Africa and more recently have granted money to the Foundation for Cancer Care in Tanzania.
